My Journey with Jesus

Discipleship eWorkbook

Welcome to the Discipleship eWorkbook. This is an online guide for a journey with Jesus by the Beginning Traveler. It consists of 16 easy-to-understand online lessons that take you directly to the Bible. These lessons are designed to be discussed and applied with the help of a fellow traveler (Christian friend, life coach, mentor,  spiritual leader - or fellow beginning traveler) who can interact with you and support you in learning to live out the truth found in the lessons.

Lesson 13: Spiritual Living

The fruit of the Spirit is God’s love coming through your life. The more your heart beats with God’s, the more people’s needs will become important to you—especially their need for eternal life.

Lesson 14: Go With The Flow

Being filled with the Holy Spirit is when you actively surrender to the Spirit, producing Spirit empowered behavior, especially in being a witness to Jesus.

Lesson 15: The Sword Of The Spirit For Reaping

A Biblical summary of the Gospel, and the trust and obey response required by God.

Lesson 16: Reaping

This lesson explains the stages through which the Holy Spirit and human witnesses bring unbelievers to faith in Christ and union with His family (local church). Jesus commands the family to have a Welcome Home! celebration and to assist in raising the new family member. You, the not-so-new believer, can now yourself become a discipling friend to a newborn Christian brother or sister.

Lesson 9: Your Daily Supply Of Food

God is your source, and He will faithfully provide your physical needs if you ask, and if you honor Him with tithes and offerings.

Lesson 10: Your Daily Supply Of Forgiveness

God is gracious, and is faithful to forgive your sin if you ask, and if you also forgive.

Lesson 11: Freedom Is Dependence

You are to ask and act to avoid temptation and to be rescued when deceived or attacked by Satan. God is always stronger than any temptation, circumstance, or enemy!

Lesson 12: At Table With The Lord

The Lord’s Supper (or Communion) is a special way commanded by Jesus for you to celebrate with other believers His death for you and the Life He gives by His Spirit living in you. Self-examination is called for before sharing in this very serious celebration. A supplement provides a guide for examining your overall progress in learning to walk with the Lord.

Lesson 5: Worshiping God -- Loving God

God wants you to worship Him and love Him in words and actions that come from your heart and are a fitting response to His love for you—which comes from His heart.

Lesson 6: Working Along With God

God’s plan and command is for you to actively love people in partnership with Him—responding to needs, but especially to people’s need for salvation.

Lesson 7: Knowing God As Your Father

The Lord’s Prayer outlines praying and living that pleases God. Who you are and the meaning of your life becomes clear when you see God as loving-Father and ruling-King.

Lesson 8: You Are A Citizen Of Heaven

Thy kingdom come is to be your prayer and life’s ambition. It is lived out in obedience to God and to His delegated earthly authorities.

The Foundation
Lesson 1: The Biggest Change in Your Life

IF you trust Jesus with your life, He will rescue you from being punished because you have disobeyed God, the creator of all things. He rescues you to become God’s child.

Lesson 2: Talking with God

God comes to live inside of you to have personal friendship with two way conversation. God speaks to you when you read and study the Bible. You talk to God when you pray – and God always pays attention to whatever you say.

Lesson 3: Hearing God

Conversation with God also includes hearing God speak personally and directly to you. God has created you to be able to recognize His voice, when you pay attention to what He says to you.

Lesson 4: Obeying God

God intends for your new contact with Him to result in new conduct for you. This happens as you obey whatever He tells you to do in His written message (the Bible), or when you obey whatever He says to you at any time of the day.
